NWSS Music

Music program students regularly participate in trips within BC, Canada and internationally.

Trips vary from three to seven days depending on the grade and destination. Previous destinations have been nearby—Whistler, Vancouver Island, Kelowna—and farther away—San Francisco, New Orleans, Ottawa, Banff and Cuba.

During trips, students usually attend festivals and perform there. These are valuable experiences because they’re unlike performing at school concerts. At home, audiences are enthusiastic family and friends who’ve come to offer their unconditional support. At festivals, audiences are other musicians, music educators and professionals who are there to give the performers constructive and critical support. 

Although trips aren’t mandatory, students in good standing in their courses are encouraged to participate.
